Rabbi Rita Leonard is member of the RSI, the Rabbinical
Seminary International, a unified body of rabbis committed to
keeping Judaism alive and to serving the needs of the unaffiliated
world Jewish population.
Rabbi Leonard is an active member of the IFR, the International
Federation of Rabbis, a professional organization of rabbis united
by a commitment to Jewish tradition and a desire to facilitate
Jewish spiritual growth.
Devoted to honouring the past and the concept of Non-Affiliated
Traditional Judaism, Rabbi Leonard draws from all branches of
Judaism to create highly spiritual and meaningful services and
ceremonies.
Presently, Rabbi Leonard is spiritual leader of the East Hawaii
Havurah. Located in Hilo, on the Big Island of Hawaii, Rabbi
Leonard teaches Jewish studies in a uniquely old world cheder
setting, trains students for Bar and Bat Mitzvah, designs personalized
ceremonies, composes Jewish liturigical and folk music, and outreaches
to the interfaith community. As member of the ICIA (Interfaith
Communities in Action) she participates in numerous ecumenical
events and services throughout the year. Most recently published
